Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2, 2026
1. Product Overview
Synctrades ("we," "our," or "us") is a command-line tool that syncs your brokerage trade history into
your own Google Sheet. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it.
Unlike a typical web application, Synctrades runs entirely on your own computer. It connects directly
to your brokerage and Google using developer credentials you provide and control. We do not operate a backend
service that processes, stores, or has visibility into your trading data, your spreadsheet contents,
or your account credentials at any point.
2. Information We Collect
We collect very little, because the software itself doesn't send us anything. The only information
that reaches us is generated when you purchase a license:
-
Purchase information: When you buy a license, our payment processor (Stripe)
collects your email address and payment details to complete the transaction. We receive your email
and a Stripe checkout session identifier - we never see or store your full card number.
-
Technical logs: Our license server, like any web server, may briefly log basic
technical information (IP address, timestamp, request path) for operational and security purposes.
This is not linked to any user profile, because we don't have user profiles or accounts.
We do not collect account credentials, trade data, spreadsheet contents, usage analytics, or device
information. There is no "create an account" step anywhere in this product.
3. Data Storage and Handling
This is the most important part of this policy, because it's the opposite of how most software works:
-
Your brokerage and Google credentials never leave your computer. You register your own
brokerage developer app and create your own Google service account; Synctrades stores the resulting
tokens locally on your machine in encrypted form.
-
We do not operate a database of users, trades, or spreadsheets. There is nothing
for us to be breached, subpoenaed, or sold, because it doesn't exist on our end.
-
License issuance is stateless. When you complete a purchase, our license server
verifies your payment with Stripe and mathematically signs a license key from your Stripe checkout
session's ID and timestamp. We do not keep our own database of issued licenses - the key can always
be regenerated by revisiting your original checkout confirmation, and we don't need to store a copy
to do that.
-
What we never see: your brokerage account login, your trade history, your account
balances, your Google Sheets content, or the OAuth tokens Synctrades stores locally on your machine.
4. How We Use Your Information
The limited information we do receive (your email and payment confirmation from Stripe) is used only to:
- Verify your purchase and issue your license key
- Respond if you contact us for support
- Process refunds, if applicable
5. How We Share Your Information
We share information with exactly one third party: Stripe, our payment processor, to
process your purchase. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your information with anyone else. We
have no advertising partners, analytics providers, or data brokers, because we don't collect the kind
of data that would be useful to them.
6. Data Security
-
Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe under their own PCI-compliant infrastructure; we never
touch raw card details.
-
License keys are signed with Ed25519 and verified entirely offline by the software on your machine -
there's no server-side authentication step that could be compromised to forge or steal licenses at
scale.
-
Your brokerage and Google credentials are encrypted at rest on your own machine, using your OS's
credential storage where available.
7. Your Rights
Since we don't maintain an account or profile for you, most standard data-subject requests (access,
deletion, portability) don't apply in the traditional sense - there's no database of your data to
access or delete. If you'd like your email address removed from our payment processor's records or
have any other privacy question, contact us and we'll help.
8. Third-Party Services
Synctrades connects directly, from your machine, to services you control access to:
-
Charles Schwab - via your own registered developer app. Governed by Schwab's own
API terms and privacy practices.
-
Google Sheets - via a service account you create. Governed by Google's own privacy
practices.
- Stripe - for payment processing. Governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
We encourage you to review each provider's own privacy policy, since we don't control their practices.
9. Children's Privacy
This service is not intended for individuals under 18. Given the financial nature of the software,
users must be of legal age to hold a brokerage account in their jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated
"Last Updated" date.
